Q & A with Annie

How long have you been art journalling?

I have been art journaling since summer 2020.

Are you inspired by a particular artist or artists, if so who?

There are so many talented women out there! Dina Wakley, Clair Stead, Niamh Baly, Tammy Klinger are some that I am inspired by.

What is your favourite supply or product?

Stencils and paint are my two favorite products to use in my art journal art.

Annie's Interpretation of our May Challenge

Annie says:  My name is Annie, I am 45 years old. I lived in Quebec, a French province in Canada. I share my life with a wonderful man. I have one daughter and two grandchildren that I love so much. I love scrapbooking and mixed media. I've been crafting for 17 years now and scrapbook is not just a hobby for me, it is a big part of my life.

I am a journaler and I also love to create mixed media layouts and altered objects with a lot of texture, flowers and moulds.

I am a team member of a scrapbook store here in Quebec, since 2019, where I teach art journal classes from time to time and make FB lives in our private group -Scrapbook Art et Passion.

I am in the Zuri team for Zuri Designs Inc, a moulds company where I make videos.

Thank you Annie for sharing your beautiful journal page with us. We really loved seeing your take on the challenge this month.

We hope Annie's fantastic take on our challenge theme inspires you to enter the May challenge!

This month with the theme of celebration, I wanted to celebrate "Birthday". I think the birthday is a very important day because I can't meet my friends without the birthday.

ELLE - EOTC

We have a very important date this month in the UK, as we have the coronation of a new King - that doesn't happen very often - so it's a pretty big deal.  I like Prince Charles (King Charles) so I wanted to make my page about him, so it has a distinctly British feel.  It's also a great month to celebrate that we have three public holidays which includes the extra one so we can all watch the coronation!

There are so many things to celebrate. Almost every day has a holiday attached to it. Some are funny. Some are serious. I decided to search what holidays were coming up in May and was completely inspired by the International Day of Light on May 16th. This holiday was created by UNESCO to provide a focal point for activities and events to demonstrate how science, technology, art and culture can help achieve its goals – education, equality, and peace. It commemorates the first successful operation of the laser by scientist and engineer Theodore Maiman in 1960.
Through further research I came across a global and grassroots movement called Liter of Light that provides affordable, sustainable solar light to people with limited or no access to electricity.
What an amazing theme this turned out to be! I hope that my project helps to bring more awareness to this and inspires more people to take action.

For me it is important to celebrate everything, not only important occasions. Every single day brings something what is worth to be celebrated. And it is important to share the joy with others
I used some distress paints and embossing powder to create this page. There is a little bit of stamping as well.
