JANUARY 2021 2nd Reveal of Main Challenge - BEGINNINGS and WASHI TAPE

Welcome to the 2nd reveal of our January Main Challenge! This month we are asking you to think about BEGINNINGS and to add WASHI TAPE to your project!

Our Main Challenge is based on a word inspiration and a creative challenge. The word inspiration can appear on your project, or not, but you must show that you have been inspired by it. The creative challenge must be used on your project!

Word Inspiration - BEGINNINGS
Creative Challenge - WASHI TAPE

HELPFUL TIPS FOR THE CHALLENGE

What does the word BEGINNINGS inspire you to create? Is there a new baby in the family, a new job or a wedding? Perhaps you have a New Year's resolution you want to record or maybe you’re beginning a new, healthier lifestyle. The New Year always inspires change, and new beginnings. Let's see yours!

For a fun touch, finish your project with some WASHI TAPE or any other tape.

And now let's look at our second DT Inspiration for this month:

AgaThe New Year came. I hope, you ‘trust in the magic of new BEGINNINGS’ as I do. New Year, new challenges, new statements – I think every moment is good for starting something new but we have to believe that we can change anything we want. That’s why I prepared colorful art journal pages with a quote and a magical fairy from a vellum paper full of new energy for new BEGINNINGS. I used a lot of WASHI TAPES and old calendar page to make the collage background. I also used a stencil with a star-shaped pattern and pink embossing powder with a galactic stamp.

AnnaWell - the beginning of year 2021 seams to be very special moment. The thing that I missed the most in 2020 was ability to travel... I really do hope that 2021 will be at least a little bit better. I decided to make an Art Journal spread - focused on traveling, but also with a quote about every morning being a new BEGINNING. I strongly believe that! I used several different WASHI TAPES as part of the background - but also in a way different roads that I'm hoping to discover.

AsiaThe word "BEGINNINGS" reminded me of important moments in my life like: my first day at university, my first job, a wedding, a child. Photo from my wedding was waiting for its layout, so I decided to use it for this challenge. Another challenge requirement is the use of "WASHI TAPE." I chose a few washi tapes that are related to the topic: dogs feet (my dog's were at our wedding), circles (as balloons) and hearts. I stuck them on white paper and that's how I created a base for my LO. I added some media: I applied a texture paste with one of my favorite stencils from AB Studio. I added pink powders and stamps, also from AB Studio.

Aude: Hello friends! I've decided to put myself in the spotlight (and it's very rare) because I'm really very happy to be part of this DT. So I used the title "2021 DT MTW" for this BEGINNING to a new adventure. I used MASKING TAPE on my background. And I had a lot of fun doing my creation.

Dana: Sometimes new BEGINNINGS mean beginning again...and again. I started my 52 Lists Projects Journal in 2016 and have 8 lists complete. Finally finishing this writing is on my list of goals this year. I incorporated WASHI TAPE into my collage style design in colors and prints that mirrored other elements on the page.

Emma: The word ''BEGINNINGS' made me think of the start to a new story and starting to 'grow' in life with the beginning of a new year. So my Layout is entitled 'STORY'. The Creative challenge using the WASHI was more challenging for me as I don't use it much on layouts anymore. So I teared a few different ones that matched my layout and added it to my trimmings around the edges as well under my layers.

Heike: The word "BEGINNINGS" inspired me to create a scrapbook layout with a snow covered flower-plant photo, so at least it is in the nature of the month of January. But unfortunately it is not so. We haven't seen snow here in the Netherlands for a long time. But I can dream about it, right? I scribbled the word "BEGINNINGS" with a pencil on my background. For the creative challenge "WASHI TAPE" I tore washi tape in little pieces and added it to my background. I also used washi tape on a photo image of Marilyn Monroe.

PRIYA MISHRA

Priya: For the word Inspiration I used the quote "And suddenly, you know... it's time to start something new and believe in the magic of new BEGINNINGS." For the creative challenge WASHI I used the quote washi tapes. I did some background stamping and stenciling with some spray paints and added my main elements. Hope you like it.

Sharon: The word BEGINNINGS made me think of how my family life is going to change in 2021. My oldest daughter is contemplating going to graduate school and my youngest daughter will be graduating from high school and then attending college. Our lives are ever changing and BEGINNING new every year! I added WASHI TAPE on my banner across the bottom of my page. I folded the washi tape over the twine, and cut it to resemble a banner. I also placed it and at various areas throughout my layout, like under the word Joyful Memories on my photo, and over the word fun at the top of my page.

And now for some of those changes I mentioned above. There will no longer be Runner Up, Random, or Mystery Winners for our Main Challenge. This year we have changed to a Regional Prize structure, whereby there will be multiple Main Challenge Winners, one or more for each Region. The number of Winners/Prizes for each Region is dependent on the number of Sponsors for that Region. Some of our Sponsors remain International Sponsors, but many are now Region specific. It is now more important than ever that you add your NAME and COUNTRY to your Inlinkz entries!
