March 2019 Main Challenge

We are extremely excited to share with you today
our brand new main challenge for March!

First, as much as it saddens us to do so, we have to say farewell
to Torsa Saha who has decided to leave the DT to pursue
other life opportunities. We will greatly miss her beautiful projects
and ever so helpful spirit here at More Than Words.
Thank you Torsa for always giving your all! We wish you all the best!

And now, without further ado, here is our March main challenge!
Our Main Challenge is based on a word inspiration and a creative challenge.

Word Inspiration - FANTASY
Creative Challenge - WINGS

What does the word FANTASY inspire you to create?
You can choose to use the actual word somewhere on your project or simply be inspired by it. Please explain in your blog post how it inspired you if it isn't obvious in your work.

Angels and fairies, butterflies and dragonflies, pegasus and birds of fancy... what better way to express this month's challenge word than to include a winged creature on your work? Spread the WINGS of your imagination and show them off on your project!

Please check out all our challenge rules in the RULES tab above.

Now let's see what our fabulous DT has come up with
inspired by the FANTASY & WINGS main challenge!

Priya: To represent this month's word I was inspired by the FANTASY world of fairies and created a fairy door in the trunk of a tree. For the WINGS creative challenge I added a lot of butterflies.

Mary: The word FANTASY inspired me to create a layout with a magical touch. I believe that if you can see the magic in a fairy tale, then you can face it in your life too. So I made a layout based on that thought and I used the perfect photo to express it. For the creative challenge I added WINGS and butterflies.

France: In my FANTASY world I have time, lots of time. The challenge inspired me to create this 12 x 12 watercoloured and stamped layout. I am the fairy enjoying time, relaxing and smelling the flowers. For the WINGS part of the challenge, I added a layer of wings made of chipboard, altered with black gesso and Prima wax. I hope you enjoy my fairyland! I am ready to go there right now
and get away from the cold Canadian Winter.

Caroline: The word FANTASY reminded me of the Harry Potter universe that I loved so much. This story is so imaginative, filled with magical and fantastic ideas to keep us at the edge of our seats. I found the perfect picture to make it match
with our WINGS creative challenge.

Rosalie: I always think of nature as being part of the wonderful FANTASY world. I have included insects and butterflies as part of the embellishments
and the WINGS creative challenge.

Nuneka: To me FANTASY is an open door to other worlds, worlds where you can go if your imagination is boundless. I chose an image which recalls the symbiosis between darkness and light that we all have inside because even the darkest stories have some beauty in them. I incorporated WINGS by adding
lots of beautiful butterflies to my page.

Di: I love the whole FANTASY of the world of steampunk. I found this gorgeous photo of a steampunk lady with beautiful feathered wings that I thought was just perfect for this challenge. As you can see I have also added chipboard WINGS tucked in behind the photo, along with lots of other steampunk fantasy elements like the torselette, cogs, clocks, hot air balloons, etc. I really enjoyed creating this fantasy layout and thought that it was a different take on this theme.

Edith: To represent FANTASY, what better than my bearded dragon named Norbert, like Hagrid's dragon of the Harry Potter world. I used butterflies t
o illustrate the WINGS creative challenge.

Nicole: I think that this has been my favorite MTW challenge so far! The word FANTASY seems to be the synonym of inspiration... there are so many creative possibilities! I was also inspired by the board image to create this round fairy canvas. I just love this tiny whimsical creatures in which we all secretly love to believe. It doesn't hurt that they have the most beautiful WINGS.

Anat: I love everything about fantasy, fairies, butterflies, etc. I used them all in my layout which was a huge fun to create! For me FANTASY looks like that: bright colours and many beautiful embellishments. I found this gorgeous picture that I absolutely love and which features well what fantasy is all about. Needless to say, my page also has lots of WINGS mixed in.

Daisy: Reading is a window open to worlds. I like to read, and FANTASY novels are my favorites! I love stories with magic and mythical creatures like elves and dragons. I framed my picture with WINGS which remind me of the wings of a fairy.

Daria: I was inspired this month to create this layout of a forest fairy. It seems to me to symbolize the awaking of nature. After all, many of us will soon enter Spring. Fairies are my favorite FANTASY creatures and I have added beautiful
chipboard WINGS to represent them.

Alicja: With my project I wanted to show the natural beauty of the FANTASY world hidden in the grass. It is full of dreams, fairies and friendly animals. It couldn't be complete without these lovely butterflies... which made so many
beautiful WINGS appear on my layout.

Hina: As an artist, my life itself is a FANTASY. Based on this thought, I created a mixed media canvas with a winged heart as I believe that art gives WINGS to your feelings and imagination. Art truly sets you free!

Jess: When I saw the word inspiration, FANTASY, I immediately thought of dreams! I'm a huge daydreamer and can quite often get caught in my own little world. I used butterfly WINGS for the creative challenge to represent my dreams taking flight.
