January 2022 Main Challenge - REFLECT and DOODLING

Hello everyone, Happy New Year and welcome to 2022 and another year of great creative challenges!

As you have probably noticed from our recent challenges, all our Main Challenges are now ART JOURNAL Challenges!

Our challenge has two parts, please use both prompts to inspire you:

Word Inspiration:  REFLECT
Creative Challenge:  ADD SOME DOODLING

Helpful Tips For The Challenge

At this time of the year we often like to look back and reflect on the year that has just ended. This is an art journalling challenge so perhaps you want to write or journal about those things you are reflecting on. For the creative challenge we want to see you add some of your own doodles to the page, so start doodling!

Sharon says:  Every time we move into a new year, I always look back and REFLECT on the previous one. We’ve had some adversity this past year, but I am ready to look to the future with a hopeful heart. For my project, I DOODLED and water-colored the barn on the hill that my husband and I pass every day when we walk our dog!

AGA MIRKOWSKA

Aga says:  Life is only a REFLECTION of what we allow ourselves to see. Sometimes IT is really difficult to stand on a white or a black side - usually we do not know which is a REFLECT. I used black and white theme presented on our challenge photo. I also used Black and white DOODLING as a frame of the page.

HEATHER MCMAHON

Heather says:  The start of a new year is the perfect time to sit back and REFLECT on our lives. Thinking about this challenge word made me realise that I don't reflect enough on things so this page is about making sure I do it more in the future.
I used DOODLING in many places - around the title, on the background and I partly used a stencil to help me doodle the large flourishes.

YULIA POPKOVA

Yulia says:  The January Challenge made me think about creativity. "Very Peri" was chosen as the color of 2022, it symbolizes creativity and cheerfulness. And my artbook page in this color. For the background, I used a different mixed media techniques - sprays, stencils, stamps and Doodling with a black liner.

ELLE - EOTC

Elle says:  I always take time at the beginning of the year to reflect on the year that has just gone.  I did that while painting my art journal spread with purple, blue and green watercolours.  Reflecting on the year made me think of this saying about your life and how you can change things by changing your thinking.  I used a couple of white pens to do a lot of doodling across the green background and trees.  It's a very meditative process which I really enjoy.

KAT PALECZNY

Kat says:  The January challenge was great fun for me, for the first time in my art journal page I didn't use stamps. I created the background using DOODLING and I have to say that I will be happy to return to this form for future posts.  I dedicate the quote, which is the message of the work, to all people for the new year.
